Young Artist Competition
Since 1988, the Young Artists Competition has engaged youth from
around the world with the sister city mission. Young artists use the
competition's yearly theme to express their concept of the mission. They
are encouraged to use their imagination while exploring their thoughts
and feelings about the theme. This year's theme is "A Reflection of
Your Community" Only new pieces inspired by this theme should be
submitted. Entries are judged based on theme interpretation, composition
and originality. Entries were accepted through Entries
are due March 30, 2009.
Awards
Each of the three winners will receive a
cash prize. The first place winner’s art will be sent to Sister
Cities International where it will be judged and have the opportunity to
win a $300 prize and will be displayed in different cities around the
country. All other entrants will receive a Certificate of
Participation. A press release announcing the winning students'
will be made available to area media to highlight their involvement in
the Young Artist Competition. The winning entries become the artistic
property of the International Relations Committee of Walker and will be
displayed by the International Relations Committee.
