Building Permit and Inspection Services Overview
The staff members of the Building Permit and Inspection Services
division have multiple responsibilities.
Staff members work closely with other City departments in the
day-to-day development of our City. The majority of all permits are
issued through our office. We have an office staff of one full time and
one part-time clerical position and an inspection staff of two
inspectors plus a contractual agreement with the City of Grand Rapids
for electrical inspections.
The following is a brief list of the duties our office performs:
- Review and issue of all building, electrical, mechanical,
plumbing, and stormwater drainage permits and the placement of a unit
within a mobile home park;
- Permit for moving and demolition of buildings;
- Scheduling and processing of applications for the Mineral Mining
Review Board;
- Temporary use permits (tent sales, sidewalk sales, firework
stands, Christmas tree sales, concession trailers).
We are located just inside the North entrance of the City Hall
building at 4243 Remembrance Rd. Office hours are from 7:30am to 5:30pm,
Monday through Thursday.
