Mayor Rob has served Walker in a number of
roles for over 20 years. He served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for 14
years before being elected Mayor in 2001. He and his wife Norma have
lived in Walker for over 25 years and raised their 4 daughters here.
They are now enjoying 4 grandchildren.
Rob is a graduate of Grand Rapids Community
College, the University of Michigan and Wayne State University Law
School.
Mayor Rob has been a Meijer employee for over
25 years and currently is a vice president and deputy general counsel.
In addition, he has served as a Board Member of the Dispute Resolution
Center of West Michigan, Mel Trotter Ministries, the West Michigan
Sports Commission, and the Christian Rest Home. He was appointed by the
Michigan Supreme Court to a Task Force on Alternative Dispute
Resolution, and serves on the sculpture committee at the Frederik Meijer
Gardens.
Rob chairs the Finance Committee of the Walker
City Commission, and represents Walker on the Boards of the Grand Valley
Metropolitan Council and the ITP.
Rob’s priorities as Mayor include fiscal
responsibility, programs for seniors, economic development and job
creation, planned and balanced development, and participatory decision
making. He also supports trail systems and sidewalks to encourage
fitness and pedestrian safety.
