Construction Updates

3 Mile Over Indian Mill Creek Bridge Replacement

Davis Construction has completed most of the work associated with the 3 Mile Rd. bridge replacement over Indian Mill Creek.  Over the last 100 days, they have reconfigured underground utilities, removed the 90 year old structure, replaced the concrete arch bridge, and installed the roadway over the bridge.  The final 2” surface layer of pavement could not be completed due to extremely cold temperatures.  The contractor will come back in late spring and place the additional layer of asphalt on the roadway along with permanent pavement markings.  The roadway will be open through the winter and spring with no anticipated restrictions to access or weight.

Work for this project began 250’ west of Indian Mill Creek and extended 600’ east to the west side of the Coopersville/Marne Railroad bridge.  The new bridge is wide enough to accommodate a future 5 lane roadway section.  New sidewalk was also installed along the project corridor.  Due to cost limitations, the existing railroad bridge was not adjusted or modified as part of this project.
